First Look - Apple Pro Display XDR

Apple Pro Display XDR

The all-new Apple Pro Display XDR features a massive 32-inch Retina 6K display with gorgeous P3 wide and 10-bit color, an extreme 1600 nits of peak brightness, an incredible 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a superwide viewing angle. It delivers a more true-to-life viewing experience with Extreme Dynamic Range (XDR)—critical for video and photo editing, 3D animation, and color grading. With Pro Display XDR, pros experience the same groundbreaking picture quality at every point in the process, for a new level of content elevation and efficiency in every production.

32-inch Retina 6K display

  • Massive 32-inch LCD panel shows more of your content, tools, and UI

  • Retina 6K resolution (6016 by 3384) has more than 20 million pixels

  • Display delivers a super sharp, high-resolution viewing experience with nearly 40 percent more screen real estate than a 5K display

  • P3 wide color gamut provides a color palette capable of creating the most vibrant imagery

  • True 10-bit color means the display can produce more than 1 billion colors with extreme accuracy and incredibly smooth gradients

  • State-of-the-art calibration and a sophisticated algorithm ensure the highest-quality color and most efficient backlight control

  • Industry-leading antireflective coating manages reflected light

  • New True Tone technology with dual ambient light sensors (ALS) delivers accurate viewing in all lighting conditions, and you can turn it off in System Preferences if needed

Nano-texture display option

  • Innovative new matte option—called nano-texture—with glass etched at the nanometer level provides low reflectivity and less glare in workspaces with natural light or other light sources that may interfere with front-of-screen viewing

Extreme Dynamic Range (XDR)

  • Breakthrough backlighting technology takes brightness, contrast, and color to a new level

  • Large array of 576 blue LEDs directly behind the panel—instead of one strip of LEDs along the edge—dynamically change with your content for true-to-life imagery

  • Innovative light optics produce 1000 nits of full-screen sustained brightness* and 1600 nits of peak brightness, so you can see your content exactly as intended

  • Incredible 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio means images look stunningly real, with the brightest specular highlights, really dark blacks, and all the details in between

Design

  • Highly functional design features edge-to-edge glass and narrow, 9 mm borders in a stunning aluminum enclosure

  • Innovative lattice pattern reduces weight, increases airflow for faster cooling, and acts as a heat sink to sustain an extreme level of brightness indefinitely

  • Thunderbolt 3 provides seamless one-cable connectivity to Mac devices, including the new Mac Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro, 15-inch MacBook Pro (2018 and later), and iMac (2019)

Pro workflows

  • Pros at every point in the video-production workflow experience exactly the same groundbreaking picture quality

  • Reference modes match requirements of HDR, HD, SD video, digital cinema, and broader uses—like photography, web development, and design and print—and custom reference modes are coming soon

  • Features the industry’s best polarizer technology, providing a superwide viewing angle with exceptional color and contrast that’s 25 times better than a typical LCD display, so multiple people can view more accurate content simultaneously

Pro Stand (sold separately)

  • Features an intricately-engineered arm that perfectly counterbalances the display, so the display feels virtually weightless and stays exactly where you place it

  • Provides both precision tilting and 120 mm of height adjustment

  • Allows Pro Display XDR to rotate into portrait mode, perfect for tasks like retouching photos, designing a web page, or writing code

  • Quickly attaches and detaches, so it’s easy to take on location

  • VESA Mount Adapter (sold separately) is interchangeable with the Pro Stand for pros with unique mounting requirements
